Theo Reti-Kelly in conversation with Troy Ivan Harder

Theo: "Troy, you work now for almost one year for the same company as the German Mr. Schlenski does. Did something specifically change to you in your way of working  since Schlenski joined the department?"
Troy: "Well Theo, you know, I always try to give the best I can in all facets of my job. As the job has been very ambitious in the past I can state that it did not get much easier to stick at it while working together with Schlenski."
Theo: "Troy, how do you mean? Is it because he is a German or is it because the over all situation did not improve as much as you imagined?"
Troy: "Well, Theo, let me state it in a few simple words. As we in Boston always give our very best in the way we usually do as proud Americans, it is sometimes a bit pretentious trying to improve our processes and work schema for one person coming from abroad."
Theo: "Pretentious you say? Isn't it a bit of a too strong word for a person employed with the purpose to consult your local process management?"
Troy: "Theo, do not let us stick here on words. Mr. Schlenski is a very skilled person. But we are too! And keep in mind, we won the war, we flew to the moon, we invented the band-conveyor and, finally, we are Americans!"
Theo: "Well, Troy, I understand what you mean but isn't it a bit arrogant as well assuming the German would be less skilled or less motivated than you are? Didn’t the Germans recover after the war as fast as no other country did? Didn't you accept that the label 'Made in Germany' results from a strong quality focussed way of working of the Germans?"
Troy: "Theo, I am not willing to be criticized from a person not familiar with the area we are trying to work in as hard as we can!
Theo: "I am sorry Troy; I did not want to insult you or to hurt your feelings as an American. I simply try o understand how it really is to work together with a German. Even so, if he is in a position to force you into a specific way of working?"
Troy: "Theo, see it this way. We never have been forced by anyone else than an American to force our way of working, our way of living , our way of understanding and, of course our way to explain the world into a specific direction. Don't you think it was a good time to start with it even now in our deepest depression ever since? Isn't it a good point for reclaiming of our roots, our set of believings and of us as gods chosen people?"
Theo: "Troy, I fully understand what you mean. Thank you for this conversation and, God bless America!"
Troy: "Thank you Theo!"
