Where is the Spirit?

Ireland has had so many past heroes –
Lugh Lamhfháda fought his many enemies in single combat with sword and spear –
Cú Chulainn fought his many adversaries with wits and endurance –
Fiann mac Cumhaill, despite his difficult childhood, grew up to be a great leader –
Maedhbh, the Great Warrior Queen showed that women, too, can be great warriors –
Niall Noigiallach was a great, strong and wise king – the ancestor of today’s O’Neills –
Grainne Ní Mháille was a powerful woman, Queen and ‘pirate’ and resisting her counterpart, the Queen of England, for quite a time –
Padraig Pearse was not only a writer, educator and revolutionary, but for many of us the last Irish hero.
All these men and women have fought gallantly to serve Ireland and its people, to bring freedom, peace and prosperity to common men and women – and often even they laid down their life for this cause.
TODAY…
The people of Ireland are ‘ruled’ by a greedy, corrupt and criminal elite – suffering and bearing the unacceptable without resistance. There is a lot of criticism and growling… but NO ONE really stands up to fight the injustice!! NO ONE says IT IS ENOUGH – and acts accordingly. NO ONE has the bravery to serve as a hero.
WHERE IS THE SPIRIT GONE? WHERE IS THE FORMER IRISH REBELLIC MOOD? DO YOU WANT TO CONTINUE TO SERVE ‘MASTERS’ WHO DON’T DO YOU ANY GOOD?
DO YOU ACCEPT THIS MODERN MISERY? THE ANONYMOUS EUROPEAN ‘MASTERS’? WHERE IS THE SPIRIT GONE?
THE IRISH SPIRIT? Y O U R  SPIRIT??
