Another toast to the lassies

I would like to propose a toast to those who accompany us men. While we always see ourselves as the cavemen hunting the game while the women tend the fire, we probably need a little rethink.

What are women? A nasty expression I once heard from an Englishman was the phrase "her indoors". If you think of us men as cavemen - we have no doors - then that can't be right.

On the other hand - which of our women really look after the fire? To be honest, that's no longer the question. We live in our family homes, we have our jobs, and so do women.

The big difference between women and men is that men have to listen to their chatter and women have to make sure we park our cars carefully.

But how does this lead us to the inner meaning of women? If no one told us the endless stories we complain about, how boring men's lives would be. If no one drove us home from the pub, how exhausting would men's lives be. If no one cooked us a meal when we came home from work (i.e. hunting), how we would starve. And finally, if there was no one to comfort us in times of flu and colds and toothaches and all those nights when we are lonely, how cruel would men's lives be.

Since women today work, raise children or contribute to the family income, we men should be grateful that we have such partners. With this in mind, I would like to thank the ladies for always preparing the food and being with us, apart from this remarkable evening.

With this in mind, I would like to raise a glass to those we can't seem to live with and definitely can't live without!
